Book review
(There’s not really spoilers in this, well it depends how you define spoilers.. Does just saying that someone dies without saying their name or without giving out hints to who they are count as spoilers? If they do then don’t read ahead!)
I kind of want to cry out of joy and sadness right now. I HAVE ALL THE EMOTIONS.
I really didn’t think I would love this trilogy so much but here I am nearly crying because I can’t stand finishing the series. I want the series to go on forever. I didn’t mean to get so attached, I swear!
Like I know this series will hold a special place in my heart with all my other favourite series. It’s just that good.
I picked up the first book because I wanted a small book to read while waiting to get A court of mist and fury by Sarah J Maas.. So yeah I was using it as a filler book or something like that. I ended up looooving it!
At that point I wasn’t in love with the story or characters, I just thought it was a pretty good book. I rated the second book 4 stars because it kind of bored me but it was still very very good. I still wasn’t attached to the series then. I thought I would finish the last book and think about the books for like a day or two and then move on to the next book on my Tbr and not think about it again for a little but.. Oh I want to think about this series all the time. It’s such a happy (well actually very sad) series and when I think about the books I think about the relationships made in them and all the happiness.
That reminds me, I love how this trilogy was so focused around relationships. It made it so much more special. I just love how Sophie cared so much about her bestfriend, romantic partner, parents, acquaintances and even strangers. She cared so much for everybody and I know I say this about very character but I want her as my bestfriend. Oh and I want Jenna as a bestfriend, she’s a cute little vampire! what is not to love?
Speaking of characters, every single character in this story has betrayed me at some point. Some more than others. You can’t trust anyone in this story I s2g.
You can’t get too attached to someone because they end up being an evil mastermind or dead.
Like seriously, so many people died in this story. My poor little heart couldn’t handle it. Especially when a certain character died in this book.. I was so close to crying.
I disliked that character so much and I actually wished they would die but when they died.. Duuuude I was nearly in tears.
Dear character, I’m sorry I said you should die! I didn’t mean it! Why did you take it so seriously? I mean it wasn’t your fault but.. rest in peace I guess.
I really loved the humour in this, it’s way better than the humour in Rebel belle and miss mayhem.. Sorry. I actually like this series more than I like rebel belle! I feel bad saying that but it’s true! Anyways back to the humour. The humour wasn’t such a great thing at times, like when Sophie is in a very serious situation she just has to make a joke, like please shut up and be serious for once. Just once. I did love the humour all the other times though. Without the humour I don’t think I would be able to make it past the first book.
I felt like I got to know every character personally. Even minor characters. I wanted to low more about Vix though! I ship her and Jenna so much.. I wish we got to look inside their relationship more.
I wanted to know more about the izzy and Finley too but there is a spin of book about Izzy so.. Hell yeah I’m buying that book! Izzy is so cute and badass. We didn’t really get to know Finley though.
When I finished this book I just wanted to cry because I really don’t want this series to be finished. It makes me so happy and I recommend it everybody. Especially people who loved Carry on, TMI, Percy jackson, illusions of fate, the half bad trilogy.. +more. The whole series is focused around supernatural creatures so if you like that then I bet you will love this trilogy!!
Ok yup it’s 1:30am and I can barely type anymore without nearly falling asleep.
